Strategy games that don't nag you every five minutes
The best strategy games make you think. The worst ones make you check in constantly so a timer doesn't expire. On mobile the line between the two gets blurry fast, so I've become picky about which base-builders earn a spot.
What I look for is meaningful trade-offs. Iron Frontier is a good example — every resource you spend on defense is one you didn't spend on growth, and getting that balance wrong actually costs you. That's real strategy, not just tapping to collect.
I also value games that let you plan and walk away. Offline progression done well means you come back to a situation to solve, not a punishment for having a life. Pausable missions matter too.
If a strategy game buzzes your phone every twenty minutes begging for attention, it doesn't trust its own systems to be interesting. Delete it and find one that does.
